If you thought gravel bikes were all about long rides, comfort and exploring quiet lanes, think again.
Gravel racing is getting seriously quick. Courses are becoming rougher and more technical, but riders are also carrying more speed than ever. Ridley has been at the sharp end of this evolution since launching the original Kanzo Fast in 2020 — and now they've taken things another step further with the new Ridley Kanzo Fast 2.0.
This isn't simply a gravel bike with some aero touches. It's been designed from the ground up as a pure gravel race bike, combining aerodynamic performance with the tyre clearance and handling needed when the road gets rough.
One of the most interesting things about the Kanzo Fast 2.0 is just how much tyre it can take.
There's clearance for tyres up to 58mm, which is roughly equivalent to a 29 × 2.3" mountain bike tyre.
That might sound excessive for a race bike — until you consider what happens when the gravel gets rough.

And importantly, you're not forced to run 58mm tyres all the time. The extra clearance means you can choose your setup depending on the course, weather and conditions.
Fast, dry gravel? Go narrower.
Rough, technical terrain? Bring out the bigger rubber.
That's a pretty useful bit of versatility.
Ridley has brought its third-generation Noah Fast aerodynamic technology across to the Kanzo Fast 2.0.
The frame features an oversized aero downtube, an extended head tube and carefully optimised frame profiles designed to manage airflow around the bike — including around the water bottles.
Why does that matter on a gravel bike?
Because bigger tyres generally create more aerodynamic drag. Ridley's approach has been to design the whole bike around that reality, rather than simply making the frame aerodynamic in isolation.
Wind tunnel testing at Ridley's Aero Performance Lab showed the Kanzo Fast 2.0 is faster than its predecessor in both bike-only and bike-and-rider testing.
Basically, Ridley hasn't forgotten that gravel racing can involve some seriously fast sections.
The Kanzo Fast 2.0 also gets a completely new geometry.
The steeper seat tube angle places the rider further forward, helping maintain an efficient aerodynamic position during long, hard efforts.
The bottom bracket is lower to compensate for the larger tyre diameter, while also helping improve stability as speeds rise.
Even the fork rake has been adjusted to work with the larger wheel radius.
The result should be a bike that feels stable when you're absolutely flying, but still responsive when you need to pick your way through rough or technical sections.
And that's exactly what you want from a gravel race bike.
For us, one of the most interesting things about the Kanzo Fast 2.0 is that Ridley hasn't simply chased the lowest possible aerodynamic drag.
Instead, they've looked at the bigger picture.
The fastest gravel bike isn't necessarily the one with the skinniest tyres and the most extreme aero frame.
If a wider tyre allows you to carry more speed through rough terrain, gain traction and reduce rolling resistance, that can outweigh the aerodynamic penalty.
The Kanzo Fast 2.0 is designed to find that sweet spot between aerodynamics, tyre volume, speed, stability and control.
Although the Kanzo Fast 2.0 is very much a gravel race machine, you don't have to be lining up on a start line to enjoy what it offers.
If you simply like riding fast, this is a seriously interesting bike.
Fast training rides, gravel events, long days exploring unpaved roads or full-on racing — the ability to alter your tyre setup means the bike can adapt to what you're riding.
And let's be honest, there's something pretty appealing about having a bike that is happy smashing along a fast gravel road one minute and tackling rougher terrain the next.
Aero + 58mm tyre clearance + race geometry = a pretty exciting combination.
The Kanzo Fast 2.0 shows just how far gravel bikes have evolved. We're well beyond the days when gravel simply meant putting wider tyres on a road bike.
